A layout, a mini album and a tag trio...

Welcome back to another beautiful day at Blue Fern Studios. Today I will share with you a layout, a mini and a trio of tags.
For all 3 projects,  I used Blue Fern Studios Ombre Dreams paper. I did some masking with molding paste and some inking on the background of my layout.

To color the Wild Field Stem, once again, I heat embossed it using a few different colors from Lindys Stamp Gang. I heat embossed it twice to get 2 different colors on the flower part and let some of it bleed into the stem.

For the Majestic Frame, I heat embossed it and added a couple of jewels, then just kissed the edges with some soft charcoal ink.

For the cover of the mini, I used a couple of the Berry Stems and the Memories frame from the Memory Frame Set.

I painted the frame and the Berry Stems with white gesso, then heat embossed it using Lindys Stamp Gang embossing powder.

The Circle Motif was heat embossed straight onto raw chipboard. I gave it  double coat for texture.

For the tags, I used the Framed Trinkets set which contains all 3 pieces. I used cut out pieces from the Bits Of Honey set.

I coated the chipboard with white gesso and heat embossed them with Lindy's embossing powder.

Once the tags were complete, I gave them an overall spray with Lindys Starburst spray for extra color and shimmer.

I hope you enjoyed my latest creations. Until next time, grab some BFS chipboard. There are new designs being added to the collection all of the time. Enjoy...

"(love these) Memories" by Lisa Griffith

Hello everyone! I hope this post find you all well. It's my turn to share my projects today. The first layout I created was an experiment just to get some interesting looks using the new line of paper from Blue Fern Studios.

"(love these) Memories"

Here I started with the Blue Fern Studios paper called "Signature", and created some texture using heavy gesso and a stencil, and then sprayed with Ranger Vintage Photo ink and water. These papers really are amazing how well they hold up to whatever mediums you want to use. (There was a little bit of warping, but a small price to pay.) I love how the paper, inks and gesso mixed to create a watercolor effect. The chip board pieces I used is one of Captured Words piece that I cut in half and pieces of the Chainlink Panel. For the chipboards I coated them with gesso and then painted them with brown ink and then a coat of clear crackle paint. I was trying to get them to look like wood to match my photo. I also used a small strip cut off from the bottom of the paper, and a piece of the blue packaging that comes with the chipboard that I punched with a lacy punch and layered under my photo. I also cut out some butterflies Blue Fern Studios paper "In Bloom".

Next up I have a layout that I created using a vintage photo of my mum.......

"Pauline"

Here I used three different pieces of chip board called Circle Motifs, Petite Windows and Iron Work Accents. For all of the pieces I painted with Silks paint in Emperor's Gold (my new all-time favorite) and then stamped over the pieces with black ink. I added some bits of a vintage magazine, some Prima flowers and pink paint.

And my last project is a mixed media card I made for St. Patrick's Day.

I created my card using a piece of the paper "Signature" as my base, lots of stamping, misting, and the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios chip board called Blooming Foliage. I covered the chipboard with a light coat of gesso, and then painted it with green mist and gold paint and then a coat of Glossy Accents.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects and feel a little inspired?
Thanks for looking,
Hugs, Lisa xo

{New Papers} with Patter

It's Patter here again with you. I am excited to share a card and the new Blue Fern Studios papers with you. I used the papers for two layouts. Both of the layouts are 8 1/2 x 11 and feature photos of our friend's baby that was born on Christmas Day. Let's start by looking at the gorgeous papers and fun chipboard pieces.

Adorable
Here is our friend's precious baby when he was 3 days old. I layered the In Bloom, Parlour, and Calling Cards papers for this 8 1/2 x 11 layout. I was able to use two of the words from the Calling Cards paper as tags on the layout.

The chipboard I used was a heart from the Eclectic Hearts set. I colored the heart with Prima Chalk Ink shabby tote and Distress crackle paint. The title is from the Good Vibes set. I painted it with a mix of modeling paste, Glimmer Mist artic blue, and Lindy's Stamp Gang bachelor button blue.

Love Always
And here is little baby at 6 days old. Here I used the Blue Fern Garden Parlour and Calling Cards papers. Again I used more tags from the Calling Cards paper and did lots of layering.

For the title, I used the Love Always chipboard piece. I painted it with layers of Tim Holtz Distress Paint tarnished brass, Viva crackle paint, and Inka Gold old silver. The layering of those three products gave the title a great look.

And Finally a Card
On this card I used the Circle Motif. I did not use a sentiment because I wanted the circle to be the focus.

I pulled up the layers of chipboard to create dimensional leaves on the Circle Motif. I then painted with Shimmerz Texturez gold mine.

November projects with Kerryn Lawson

Hello!  Kerryn here today to share how I have used some of my favourite Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces.

First up today is a mini canvas.  This cutie is about 2 1/2" square and was the perfect size for one of the pieces from the Bits of Honey set.

After the Bits of Honey piece had been adhered to the canvas both the canvas and the chipboard were primed with gesso then it was a case of building layers with different shades of blue/green mists.  By spraying the mists at different heights and with different hand movements you can still achieve a fun range of colour despite the small canvas size.

Two pieces from the 2 Hearts set were layered together and given a similar treatment but this time with pink/peach mists.  To finish the very ends of the wings were teased apart to add dimension with gauze added underneath for even more texture.

The second project I would like to share today is a card featuring a gorgeous Brigitte butterfly.

The base for the butterfly was a Circle motif which was primed with gesso and painted off white to better match the papers I had chosen.  The butterfly was painted in shades of pink and orange, pulled from the background paper.  After being primed with gesso the butterfly was coated with Shimmerz paint in Marigold before a combination of pink and orange gelatos were blended over the top to add graduated colour.

October projects with Kerryn Lawson

Hello!  It's Kerryn here today to share my October projects with you.

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to attend the Cirque Du Soleil production "Ovo" with my family.  The show left us completely spellbound.  It was incredible!

I chose the word Happiness from the Good Vibes set to form my title.  After priming with gesso lime green shimmery paint was applied.  The effect of the shimmery paint is quite subtle but it does add a touch of glam to the title.

Shimmery paint was again applied to an arrow from the Directions set and a Circle Motif piece.  This time a straw coloured shimmery paint was used.

The next project I would like to share is a monochromatic style card.

Three pieces from the Pretty Weeds set were painted with a cream shimmery paint and once dry were layered together and secured with a ribbon bow.  A bird from the 2 Hearts set, painted with gold shimmery paint, was added to the cluster.

The chipboard word Joy, from the Good Vibes set, was simply inked with brown ink for the sentiment.

For my final project today I have another card.  This time a brighter colour palette features.

The interlinked hearts from the 2 Hearts set were primed with gesso before being painted with a red shimmery paint.  These hearts are one of my favourite chipboard pieces and required the addition of only a couple of simple embellishments to create a fabulously versatile card.
