March Projects with Cathi

It is March and that means spring will be here soon! I really hope so as it has been raining for days here in Ireland!! Since it is a new month it is also time for a new sketch!! This month my layout features the beautiful new collection Courtship Lane. I have used the gorgeous Town Gossip and Calling Cards papers as a base for my layout.

Here is the beautiful sketch for March:

Here you can see a close up where I used the gorgeous Imagine Ink Dusty Rose glitter through a mask using gel medium to adhere it to the layout through the mask. I chose some yummy flowers from my stash.

I used the Everlasting Love chipboard as my title, embossing it with the Imagine Ink Verdant embossing powder.  I have also tucked in some of the Mesh Bits texture chipboard to add some interest to the background of my layout. I embossed them with the really distressed looking Imagine Ink Oatmeal embossing powder.

I added some metal butterflies as well as a chipboard Royal Monarch butterfly which is covered again in the Imagine Ink Dusty Rose glitter. Here you can see several Calling Card pieces from the collection tucked in under my image. I finished off my layout with a cute little paper clip on the photo, been loving those lately on my cards and layouts.

My next project is a another layout using the beautiful Courtship Lane papers. I just love the colors and designs in this new collection, vintage but fresh and spring like too with the gorgeous images and colors. I used the beautiful Lover's Lane paper as my base and both sides of the Main Street paper to build up my layers.

In this first closeup you can see the Turkish Bits chipboard. I colored this randomly for a distressed look with the gorgeous Imagine Ink Mystic Plum embossing powder.

I used stamps from the Forever stamp set in Seedless Preserves Distress Ink to give some great texture to my backgrounds. I also stamped a doily from the Weathered Doilies set in Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I used many flowers from my stash here and some fun piles of twine for texture.

At the bottom right of my layout I used several paper layers and the Amour chipboard from the French Words set.  I embossed this in Imagine Ink Mystic Plum embossing powder again. Here you can see more of my stamping and some splashing to pick up the purple.

In my main flower cluster I had a great time coloring the beautiful Symphony Corner chipboard piece. I added a mixture of Ginger Imagine Ink embossing powder and the Mystic Plum. I just love the look it gives!! The flowers are from my stash and build up the vintage colors in the papers and image. I added little bark heart from my stash to finish it off. This is one of my favorite layouts I have made lately, just love the unusual mix of colors inspired by this paper!

For my final March project I did a set of cards using the Montage paper collection. So bright and cheerful, I love how these cards turned out.

I just love using the Calling Card and Bouquet papers to add details to these cards. For my first card I have used the Sweet sentiment from the Bouquet paper. The teacup is fussy cut from the Calling Cards paper. I have used two layers from the Invitation and Society papers from the collection. I have embossed the Leafy Bough chipboard in Imagine Ink Grassy Knoll and finished off the card with flowers from my stash and some stitching. I have stamped a bit of texture onto the card using the Essential Textures net stamp.

My second card features the Bouquet paper sentiment and the Now and Then and Wisdom papers. I layered them and added some stitching, flowers and a twine bow around my sentiment. To finish the card off I used a gorgeous Brigitte Butterfly embossed in the gorgeous Imagine Ink Oatmeal embossing powder.

For my final card I have used the Fairyland paper which I have stitched and stamped with the Essential Textures stamp set. I have layered lots of flowers from my stash and added some twine loops. My sentiment is from the Bouquet paper and I have added a beautiful chipboard heart from the Heart Set embossed in Imagine Ink Dusty Rose embossing powder.

Kelly's May Projects

Good morning, Blue Fern fans! Kelly here today.
Have you had a peek at the new Ombré Dreams paper collection? It is absolutely stunning..and I had a chance to create with it in time for my post this month :)

"You Color My World"

I was immediately drawn to the purple/yellow colors in "Julianna's Dream" for my background paper. I added some mixed media work atop that, then layered in strips torn from "Shannon's Dream." My title was cut from the "Dream Cards" sheet.

In addition to the gorgeous new papers, I have used some new chipboard designs, as well, including this Treasured Floral Frame, which was given a coating of gesso and then sprayed with a few pastel mists to match the background colors.

I also cut a few pieces from the Quilted Page Panel, painted with gesso, sprayed with mists, then dusted gently with Primary Elements Artist Pigments for lots of shimmer.

"Simply Beautiful"

This next page is a bit more subdued and simple. I chose the Blue Fern Garden "Signature" paper for my background, as I thought the subtle texture and color was perfect for my photo. I then layered scraps from other Blue Fern Garden papers, cardboard, fabric, and tissue paper for lots of texture.

Above you can see I have used one of the Symphony Corners - Medium, which was embossed with two different embossing enamels, sprayed with mists, then gently dabbed with gesso. Into the cluster I also added bits of the Berry Stems.

At the top corner of my photo, I added one of the Symphony Corners - Small. This piece was treated the same as the other, and once again I tucked in pieces of the Berry Stems here and there.

"Dream"

This last page, I simply pulled various scraps from my stash, (including a few of the cut off strips from the bottoms of Blue Fern Garden papers!) and layered up my background. To really draw focus to the photo, I framed it twice using Circle Links and Beaded Strings. These were both given a coat of a few colors of chalk ink, then painted using Silks in various colors. The photo doesn't quite capture it, but they are super shimmery!

On either side of the photo I have also added an arrow from the Directions set. These were treated the same as the frames.

3 Feminine projects by Evgenia Petzer

Hello wonderful scrappy friends! its Evgenia Petzer with you today, its my first post over Blue Fern Studios blog and i am so excited to join this amaizng team of ladies. I really love chipboard and the BFS designs are so close to my feminine style.

I will start by introducing myself: I am 29 years old, born and raised in Russia, but now we live in sunny South Africa, thats the native country of my husband. We have a 5 year old son and another boy we are expecting in about 2 months time. We also have a cute little yorkie and a ginger cat. I have been so lucky to design for some great manufacturers and to give lots of scrapbooking classes in Russia and here in South Africa.

I will start today with a handmade notebook/journal in a fabric cover. I love this tiffany shade of aqua now...
BFS Products used: Symphony border, Vintage Locks

Both of chipboards used here i covered with craft acrylic paint and on the symphony border i applied glossy accent afterwords, it hepls to "melt" these two colors together.

The pages inside are handdied in some tea and coffee for more vintage look.

Next is the shabby chic card:

BFS products used: Grande Cages, Leafy page accents

Both of chipboard pieces are embossed with a Zing powder, and the cage is sprinkled in between with microbeads

my parents will have soon their 30th wedding anniversary and I amde this card for them

Cards and More with Patter

Hi, it's Patter Cross here sharing some inspiration with you todaya set of card and a layout. Let's take a look.

A Card Pair
Today I wanted to share a card pair I made. I used some scrap paper for the background, and the paper scrap was actually bigger than I thought so I was able to make two cards at once. That's so handy. Anyway, I used the Blue Fern Studios Symphony Corners Medium chipboard. I cut the chipboard in half and used a piece on each card. The chipboard was painted, and I added glass beads.

And for my layout, I thought I would play with a couple of photos of one of my daughter's riding Jesse. He has arthritis so she was taking it slow and warming him up. I used two different Blue Fern Studios chipboard setspart of the Leaf Frame and a piece from the Picture Perfect set for the title. Both pieces were painted, and I added glass beads to the Leaf Frame pieces that I cut.
