Cards with Yana Smakula

Hello everyone! My name is Yana Smakula and I'm beyond thrilled to be a part of Blue Fern Studios for the next few month.
Let me briefly introduce myself. I’m 26 years old and I’m from Ukraine. I’ve been married for a little bit over a year now, no kids but we do have two black cats and we can’t live without them!
I love to travel across the world and meet new people, discover new cultures and just explore. So far together with my husband we’ve been to a few places in Europe, Africa, Asia and USA. Our next dream destination is Madagascar, I hear the nature there is simply breathtaking!
I enjoy scrapbooking and I mostly scrapbook about our travels. My other passion is cardmaking – I enjoy trying new products and techniques, experimenting and creating in different styles.

I have two cards to share, both completely different, one is a clean and simple, and the other – well, you tell me which style it fits best, lol!
Here’s the first card – Thinking of you.

For this card I used the following chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios. Butterflies were coloured with white Folk Art paint from Plaid and the flower was roughly covered with Distress paint from Ranger.
 Brigitte Butterfly Set

Gabrielle Butterfly Set

Garden Daisies

My next card – a classic Clean & Simple which I am so in love with lately. Its a card with hint of a vacation – endless ocean waters, loud seagulls and lots of blues and aquas.

For this card I used cloud-shaped chipboard. I think its one of the first ones I laid my eyes on! I really like all the different shapes there are in the set.
I covered the clouds with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder, did that twice to completely cover the chipboard.

Thats all for today from me. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed!

Altered projects with Yvonne Yam

Greetings from sunny Singapore! My name is Yvonne and I'm excited to share my creations using  Blue Fern Studios chipboard. :) I love to make stuff, especially using unexpected "found" stuff around my house (or someone else's!) *Winks*  Old vintage photos. Cute kawaii things. Pretty trinkets.  I love them all! :)  Stop by my blog Do More With Less where I share weekday inspiration through projects, tips and tutorials.

My first project for July is a 6 x 6 canvas.

I painted my Seasonal Wildflowers chipboard with gesso then added some translucent beads for some added texture.

The "dream big" chipboard was painted with gesso and metallic medium.

The Optimist Word Set

My next project is an upcycled tea tin to store pretty trinkets in. :)

I love that the chipboard adds such awesome dimension to the project. :)

Butterfly Kisses

I misted the butterfly kisses chipboard, then added some glass beads for extra texture.

Hope that you've enjoyed my projects. :)

We just love the classy look of this layout! From the color palette to the total elegant touch that our Page Chains piece offered to the design- fabulous work!

48FiveTime
Everything about this layout is just incredibly sweet! The soft, feminine color palette, clustering, layering- breathtakingly beautiful! We love that she used the chain from the Fancy Fob Watch piece to represent the chain in the sketch. Perfect!

Elizabeta Dimitrova
Such a sweet, whimsical page! Elizabeta replaced the chain from the sketch with a banner- a PERFECT idea! We love that she showed that you truly can make a sketch work for you! And we're smitten with the pretty, blinged-up Seasonal Wildflowers piece that she created as the center of attention for her cluster. Just beautiful!

Blue Fern Studios Chip Board Ala Natural--

Hi..Lisa here with your July 3rd Blue Fern Studios Reveal. I started thinking about all of the ways to alter your chip board. But when I pulled out my Kraft paper, I noticed it was the same color as my BFS chip board. So I decided to do a monochromatic type layout using Kraft paper and leaving the chip board as raw as possible. I really love the look.

I only used a small amount of ink to soften the hard edges of the chipboard and create some shading. I used Kraft paper to create the flowers to match the chip board.

I cut the Large Floral Wreath in half. Then I misted it heavily with a spray bottle and water. I was then able to very carefully, peel the top layer away from the wreath. The edges curled slightly while it air dried. After it dried, I inked the edges slightly with a darker brown color.

I also just inked the title as well...

I inked the hearts with brown ink, then embossing ink, and  sprinkled  some brown distress embossing powder over the hearts and heat embossed them. When they were dry, I tied some jute around them.

Just another angle to the wreath cut out.

I designed this card to give to my friend who is going on a hot air balloon ride for her birthday in September.I added the butterfly for added visual interest in the flight theme.

Just a side angle to the card. I tied some twine around part of the card.

Keeping the style of the card simple, helped to bring out the balloon.

I painted the balloon with blue acrylic paint and added the Stickles and some pearls to it.

Thank you for joining me today and letting me share my creations with you. And dont forget to play along with our July Sketch Challenge.
